The village of Sistelo is located in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, in the heart of Peneda-Gêres National Park, near the source of the River Vez. Famous for its terraced landscapes, where maize is grown and livestock grazed, the village is very well preserved, with typical granite houses, granaries and public lavatories being restored.

The Castle of Sistelo, former libraries of the village, deserves a careful visit: it is a palace from the late nineteenth century where the Visconde de Sistelo lived. Stroll through the alleys of Sistelo and enjoy the Parish Church, the House of the Viscount of Sistelo, the Roman Bridge and the Mill, the Sistelo bridge downstream, the Hermitage of Our Lady of the Afflicted and the Chapels of St. Anthony, St. John the Evangelist , Senhora dos Remédios and Senhora do Carmo.

Enjoy the House of the House, the House of the Enes, the Parish Church of Saint Martin of the Soajo, the mill in ruins and the pillory. Look out over the medieval sidewalk that provides a panoramic view of the village. The countless tourist houses here were born from the recovery of old buildings. They are beautifully restored spaces that have kept the traditional traces and provide comfortable stays in the Peneda-Gerês Park.
